What is the best way to clean FIMG pewter ?

Pewter doesn't tarnish but it does get deeper in color over time. Like most metals when exposed to elements e.g. weather, sweat, salt water it needs to looked after. With a  little cloudy ammonia and velvet soap in warm water with a very soft toothbrush you can clean your pewter. Make sure you dry each casting with a soft cloth.

Some pewter is made with lead, why does FIMG only sell lead free pewter?

At Fairies In My Garden we only sell Australian made pewter castings which are lead free. Did you know that's lead is believed to be the cause of many health conditions. Here is just some reasons we choose not to sell pewter that contains lead.

Lead Poisoning

The symptoms of lead poisoning include neurological problems, such as reduced IQ, nausea, abdominal pain, irritability, insomnia, excess lethargyor hyperactivity, headacheand, in extreme cases, seizureand coma.

There are also associated gastrointestinal problems, such as constipation, diarrhea, abdominal pain, vomiting, poor appetite, weight loss. Other associated affects are anemia, kidney problems, and reproductive problems.

In humans, lead toxicity often causes the formation of a bluish line along the gums, which is known as the "Burtons's line". A direct link between early lead exposure and extreme learning disabilityhas been confirmed by multiple researchers and child advocacy groups.
